Commercial Fire Alarm Systems
Looking For Top-Quality Commercial Fire Alarm Systems? Give Us A Call!
At KCS Projects, we understand that business owners have a lot of pressure on their shoulders.
Safeguarding your employees against the risk of fires is a great responsibility, and may seem a daunting task if you are not personally experienced in navigating the intricacies of commercial fire alarm systems.
Under the Duty Of Care (Health And Safety At Work Act 1974), employers have a legal obligation to ensure that their business is a safe environment for their employees, which includes taking measures to ensure that employees are protected against the risk of fire outbreaks using effective fire prevention, detection, and evacuation methods.
According to current UK fire alarm regulations, all business premises must have an ‘appropriate fire alarm detection system’, which will usually require a fire alarm system to alert all occupants of the building in the event of a fire.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, fire alarms must be installed by a competent person or company, who must be able to understand the different types of fire alarm and how they work, such as the main makes and models, fire alarm system grades and categories, the ability to design a fire alarm according to grade and category requirements, and knowledge of the British Standard BS5839.
And when installed, fire alarms must then be inspected and serviced every six months and should be tested weekly.

How Our Commercial Fire Alarm Systems Can Help Your Business
While anybody with the right qualifications can legally fit a fire alarm on commercial premises, using a professional fitting service helps to ensure the highest possible standards of fire safety.
Fire alarm professionals draw on years of experience fitting alarms for a wide variety of sectors and premises, and are deeply familiar with any hazards which may present a fire risk.
For many businesspeople, it may be easy to overlook fire hazards in your own premises. This may be due to personal inexperience, or simply being ‘too close’ to your own business to be able to effectively risk assess fire hazards.
By employing a third-party organisation to help with the design and installation of your fire alarm system, you will have access to an objective and professional evaluation of fire hazards on your property, which can be an invaluable resource when safeguarding the health and wellbeing of your employees.
At KCS Projects, we have over 20 years of experience within the fire safety and security industries, working with a wide range of businesses from a variety of sectors across the UK.
We are familiar with the many ways in which the business environment and those within it may influence fire evacuation protocols, and have extensive experience in developing systems to suit a diverse range of teams and premises.
As trusted providers of fire alarm solutions to major institutions including schools, hospitals, charities, universities and more, business owners can feel secure in the knowledge that the lives of their employees are in the safest of hands.
We are able to provide experienced advice on how to plan and enforce Fire Alarm Protocols to suit your routine business operations and premises, and can offer insight into areas of fire safety that may have been missed previously.
Does My Business Need A Commercial Fire Alarm System?
Under UK legislation, all businesses must have an ‘appropriate fire detection system’, which means that a fire must be detected and all occupants easily warned to be legal. Most businesses will require a fire alarm to do this, although there may be a few exceptions.
Your business may not require a fire alarm if your premises are small enough to raise the alert to all occupants by simply shouting, if all fires would be easily visible within the building, if there are no vulnerable occupants, and if you don’t store any high-risk substances - such as chemicals - or undertake high-risk activities such as cooking.
However, the majority of businesses will not meet all of these criteria. As such, most businesses will require an appropriate fire alarm system for their commercial premises.
