Automated Gates Installation at Denbigh High School

Delivering a Secure, Modern Entrance System

We were appointed to upgrade the entrance systems at Denbigh High School, providing a modern automated solution that enhances security, improves accessibility and complements the appearance of the school's existing gates.

The project involved installing a pair of automated steel vehicle swing gates and a matching steel pedestrian gate, all designed to replicate the original entrance. The vehicle gates were automated using CAME FROG X underground motors, with the existing ground loop retained and integrated into the new system. We also connected the installation to the school's existing Paxton video intercom, ensuring a seamless transition with minimal disruption.

The pedestrian entrance was automated using CAME FROG X motors and fitted with a new Paxton video intercom featuring an integrated keypad, proximity reader and magnetic lock. This allows authorised users to gain access using a PIN code or proximity token, while visitors can contact reception via the video intercom for remote entry. An exit button was installed on the secure side of the gate, and a fireman's key switch was added to the vehicle entrance to provide emergency services with secure out-of-hours access.

Working to a Fixed Deadline

The installation was carried out during the Easter school holidays to minimise disruption to pupils and staff. With two working days lost to the Easter bank holidays, alongside planned CCTV and intruder alarm maintenance taking place on site, careful planning and coordination were essential.

As the school was due to reopen immediately after the holidays, the programme couldn't overrun. By working closely with the school and managing the installation efficiently, we completed the project on schedule while maintaining our high standards of quality and safety.

The Result

The new automated entrance system was fully operational before the start of the new term, giving Denbigh High School a secure, reliable and easy-to-use access control solution.

By combining automated gates with integrated access control and video intercom technology, the school now benefits from improved site security, controlled access for staff and visitors, and a system that blends seamlessly with the original entrance.
