We completed a gate automation installation at Linton Village College, working on behalf of Kestrel Fencing to automate both the pedestrian and vehicle gates and improve safe, controlled access across the site.
For the pedestrian entrance, we installed a single Came 24 volt arm gate automation system. The vehicle gate was fitted with a pair of Came Axo 24 volt arm motors to provide reliable powered opening and closing for daily use. On both gates, we installed a full set of safety beams and safety edges between the gate posts so the systems meet current safety standards.
Challenges on site
During our first visit we found the cable ducts had been installed in the wrong position by others, so we worked with the main contractor to arrange their relocation before continuing the installation. As the work was carried out outdoors, weather conditions also needed to be factored into the schedule.
To complete the setup, a welder was brought onsite to securely weld the Axo arm brackets directly onto the steel gate posts, ensuring a strong and accurate installation.
Outcome
Both gates now operate smoothly with compliant safety protection and dependable automation suited to the daily demands of a busy school environment. The upgraded system provides controlled access for staff, students and visitors while improving overall site safety and reliability.
