School Safeguarding and Access Control Improvements

We completed a safeguarding project at a primary school for Bedford Borough Council, improving security and access around the school grounds.

The project focused on the playing field perimeter and main entrance, with new fencing, gates and Paxton access control installed to give the school greater control over who can enter the site.

The Challenge

Previously, people could walk directly into the car park and towards the reception area without a controlled access point.

The school needed to improve control over access to the site while keeping the entrance practical for everyday use.

During the works, the team also came across an unexpected challenge in the form of a wasps' nest, which had to be dealt with safely before work could continue.

Our Approach

We installed a combination of fencing, gates and access control to create a more secure entrance and perimeter.

The works included:

• New fencing around the playing field perimeter

• New fencing around the main entrance

• A cantilever swing gate in front of the car park

• Two pedestrian gates

• Paxton access control

  
  

Together, these measures provide clearer separation between the public areas and the school grounds, while giving the school greater control over access.
